Having been described as everything from 'haunting and dreamlike' to 'ferocious and compelling’, Cellar Door are an acoustic roots duo inspired by a patchwork of genres including folk, blues and soul. Aimee Grinter and Mike Brown have a song writing partnership and contemporary 'anglicana' sound developed over many years and have evolved a musical identity that is raw and soulful whilst also embracing the delicate and stark sounds that are possible with acoustic music.
Based in Croydon, Cellar Door have played hundreds of gigs as a duo throughout the UK and they thrive on captivating audiences, whether they’re performing at a concert hall, a muddied, sun drenched festival, or a backstreet bar. Well established within Croydon’s grassroots music scene, Aimee and Mike have collaborated with many other esteemed artists and projects; most recently with Dave Sears, and with Trambeat (see LINKS and ARCHIVES for more info).
Cellar Door released their debut album Siren Songs in 2010 to excellent reviews, including a review in Acoustic Magazine. FATEA Magazine also chose the track 'Bad Lands' for their showcase compilation. After a 10 year roller coaster of artistic projects and adventures since Siren Songs was recorded, it's time for Cellar Door to bring their original music off the backburner and back into the spotlight for 2021.
“Talented and artistic, Cellar Door are definitely a band to watch. Expect great things.”
